Klinger AB Cocks
AB-Cocks
are simple constructed, robust shut-off cocks which are specially designed for
the measurment engineering. Due to their reliability and economic efficiency
they are applied by the million.
Operating PrinciplesA cylindrical cock plug and an
elastic packing sleeve enable a fast opening and closing over a 90°
movement. This is ensured by using a stop which is rigidly attached by a
circlip (valid for straight way cocks AB). Type MAB cocks for gauge meters have
no integrated stop (type MABAL is excepted). The operation is carried out with
a removeable handle. All Klinger AB-Cocks are closed by turning clockwise with
the exception of types ABIE and MABAL which are closed counterclockwise.
Advantages:
- 90° operation ensures immediate opening and closing
procedure.
- Generously dimensioned sealing surface which guarantees
leak-tightness across the bore and to the atmosphere, hence: no false
instrument readings.
- Hand operation enables throttling, therefore usage in
blow-down lines possible.
- Simple design (only one moving part) ensures high
operation safety and long durability.
- The packing sleeve, the only part which is subjected to
wear, can be replaced within minutes with the AB-Cock staying in line.
- No jamming caused by corrosion.
- Special designs for applicions with pressure gauges,
indicators and liquid level gauges are available.

Please note that the maximum operating temperature of each KLINGER AB-cock
depends on the respective operating pressure as well as on the materials of
body or sealing. The pressure and temperature limits are shown in the
P-/T-diagrams.
